employees return to work • TNTV Tahiti Nui Television

Soon the epilogue in the TRE Transports case? After a period of strike which had affected the company from December 16 to January 16, the labor court ordered on January 17 the transfer of the employment contracts of the former company, Tehihira & Fils, to the new one, TRE Transports. A transfer that the judge considered valid from November 14, giving reason to the strikers who demanded that their seniority and their level of remuneration be taken into account, absent from the new contracts offered by TRE.

Despite this decision, these have still not been updated. Some of the 17 employees returned to work under the illegal conditions imposed by the employer. 4 others refused and were not allowed to return to their jobs by the company. They displayed their dissatisfaction, Wednesday, in front of the oil mill of Tahiti, main customer of TRE Transports.

“The joke has lasted too long”

For Me Robin Quinquis, representing the employees, “the joke has lasted too long“. The judge in chambers was thus seized the day before yesterday for a penalty payment of 1 million XPF per day of delay from the forthcoming decision to be pronounced against the management of the company.

The object is to ensure the execution of a court decision“, he continues. The procedure seems to be bearing fruit since TRE Transports continued the reintegration of employees this Thursday morning.

As for the employees who took over before the others, “there will either be riders to reassess the wages and take back the seniority, or the employer will pay the wages and establish the payslips on the basis of the judgment of the labor court“, concludes Me Quinquis.

The hearing will take place next Monday.
