Employees of the health network forced to give up vaccination

The Federation of Health and Social Services (FSSS-CSN) said Friday that employees of the health network would give up being vaccinated against COVID-19 because of the conditions put in place and the costs incurred.

If health care workers can receive the vaccine during their working time and without impact on their remuneration, according to the rules enacted by the Legault government, inequities would still persist, according to the Federation.

Some people would be forced to travel several hours to receive the vaccine at a service point far from their place of work, without any form of financial compensation, said the FSSS-CSN.

A situation which would then generate costs for these employees and which would jeopardize the vaccination campaign, which is currently in full swing in the province.

“The [le gouvernement] refuses to pay COVID-19 bonuses to an overwhelming majority of frontline personnel since the start of the crisis. He also refuses to make the necessary personal protective equipment available. He lets the public sector negotiations drag on, while making promises at a press conference that are completely out of step with what he is offering at the negotiating table, ”the president of the FSSS-CSN said in a press release, Jeff Begley.

“It should come as no surprise here that several employees calculate that getting vaccinated would cost them much too much now,” he also added.

The Federation, which represents nearly 120,000 members in the health network, has therefore called for the establishment of compensation for employees who must receive the vaccine.
