Employees Demi Lovato testify in ‘Dancing With the Devil’ about her overdose: “She didn’t move and was full of drool” | Celebrities

Celebrities“Her body had turned completely blue.” Demi Lovato’s former assistant could barely hold back tears when she shared how she found the 28-year-old singer almost lifeless the morning after her overdose. The pop star and her entourage candidly testify in the documentary series ‘Dancing With The Devil’ about the toll of fame and the addictions that came with it. The first two episodes premiered on YouTube on Tuesday evening.

In the four-part series, the singer talks without hesitation about her addictions from the past and about her overdose that dates back to 2018. Lovato was sober for years, but eventually her addiction re-emerged. “The first time after my relapse I took drugs that I had never taken before”, it sounds in the documentary. This included meth, in combination with cocaine, weed, MDMA, OxyContin (a morphine-like pain reliever) and alcohol. “That combination alone should have been deadly.”

The 28-year-old singer also admitted that she started using heroin and crack (a processed form of cocaine) because her dealer did not stock her usual combination of cocaine and Xanax. Things then quickly turned from bad to worse and after her Tell Me You Love Me tour it was so bad that during a game night with friends she secluded herself in the bathroom to take drugs on her own.

On the night of her overdose, in July 2018, Demi had initially met with friends as well. A few hours later she told the group that she was going to bed, but in reality she had agreed with her dealer. The singer herself was in shock when she woke up in the hospital the next day. Lovato was sure you couldn’t overdose if you didn’t inject the drugs directly into your body. “On the night of my overdose, I smoked the drugs. That’s why I was shocked when I woke up in the hospital. ” One of her friends, Dani Vitale, was with her that night and had the feeling from the start that something was not right. “When I left, I had a really strange feeling.”

Employees testify

In the documentary, several other employees responded to the overdose of the singer. Jordan Jackson, who used to be Demi’s personal assistant, found her the following morning. Pretty early in the morning Jordan was already in front of her house because she had a doctor’s appointment. Her ex-assistant kept knocking on her door, but when Demi didn’t come, she went in herself. “It was very dark and cold in her room, it really gave me the creeps. At first I thought she was just drunk or hungover, so I started poking her gently. But she didn’t move and she was drooling too much, ”Jackson testifies.

Then she immediately called Max Lea, who was in charge of her security and responsible for staff. “There was vomit everywhere and she was lying on her back, which is not a good sign.” Shortly afterwards, Max ordered Leah her security to put her on her side and to clear her throat. Her assistant Jordan has also seen how the ambulance drivers have brought her back to life. “At some point she had turned completely blue.” Many of the singer’s family and friends came out of the blue after the news of her overdose. Demi was very good at hiding certain things. A month before her overdose, her mother called one of her shows her “best performance ever”. At one point you hear mommy Dianna De La Garza say that things would only get better from now on. Barely a month later, disaster struck.

The fact that the employees of Demi have not always had an easy time, is evident from a number of other revelations. For example, the singer said that she had previously recorded a documentary, but that it was never or never allowed to see the light of day. According to her, this only showed the tip of the iceberg in terms of her drug addiction and mental problems. Dani Vitale, who has also worked with the singer in the past, called the tour that was filmed for the documentary simply miserable. People around her claimed that she was happy and that she seemed to be a child again. Only at one point you hear Demi herself say that she has been trying for thirteen years to take control of her own life.

Relationship with her father

What was also striking is that Demi Lovato has spoken very openly about her father. “I hated him because he was addicted to alcohol and drugs,” she admits, among other things. In the end, the singer decided not to have any more contact with her father, but the news of his death still carries Lovato with her to this day. Her family does not know his exact date of death. “Every summer it comes back to my head and I wonder on what day he would have died.” Unfortunately, when they found her father’s body, it became immediately clear that he had been dead for a long time. “It took at least a week and a half and his body had already decomposed so badly that an open coffin during the funeral was no longer an option.”

His death further caused a lot of guilt feelings for the singer. She herself always spoke in public about the importance of mental health, but her own father said she was unable to help them. “My father was schizophrenic and bipolar. In addition, he was an alcohol and drug addict and I did not help him the way I would have helped other people. And that while I continuously talked about how important mental health was. ”

Raped by her dealer

It remains to be seen what will be covered in ‘Dancing With the Devil’. Earlier we wrote that it was not a matter of time or the 28-year-old singer was no longer there. “Afterwards, the doctors told me that I wouldn’t have been there if no one had found me at the time. It shouldn’t have lasted longer than five to ten minutes, ”she said in a preview of her documentary. In another trailer, the singer confessed that she was raped by her dealer on the night of her overdose. “I took everything he gave me. Once I was high, he took advantage of my vulnerable state, ”Demi admitted.

‘Dancing With the Devil’ consists of a total of four parts. The first two episodes have been on YouTube since Tuesday evening. Over the next two weeks, the last two episodes will appear on her YouTube channel every Tuesday.
