“Adolescent” Dominates 2025 Emmy Awards, Political Statements Mark Ceremony
Los Angeles, CA – The 2025 Emmy Awards took place Monday night, celebrating the best in television with a mix of heartwarming wins and pointed political statements. Netflix’s limited series Adolescent emerged as the night’s biggest victor, taking home six awards, while Studio and Urgent also secured top honors.
Adolescent, a gripping four-part drama centered on a British family grappling with their thirteen-year-old son’s accusation in a murder case, captivated the Television Academy’s 22,000 voting members.Leading man Stephen Graham earned the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a limited Series, with his co-star, 15-year-old Owen Cooper, making history as the youngest male recipient of the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series award, as reported by the BBC.
The night wasn’t without its laughs, as Studio was awarded the title of Outstanding Comedy Series. Seth Rogen, star and co-creator of the show, also took home the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, along with wins for directing and screenplay. “I am really embarrassed about how happy I am,” Rogen quipped to Reuters after the win.
Medical drama Urgent, set in the Pittsburg Traumatology Center, secured two awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and a win for Noah Wyle as Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Beyond the awards themselves, the ceremony saw several actors using their platform to address current events. Hannah Einbinder, recognized as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series, used her acceptance speech to condemn the ongoing conflict in Gaza and criticize anti-immigration policies enacted by former US President Donald Trump.Spanish actor Javier Bardem made a visual statement on the red carpet, wearing a traditional Palestinian scarf.
