Emmanuel Macron largely in the lead

This Sunday, April 24, the French voted to elect their new head of state. Located to the left of the political spectrum at the municipal level since 1989, the city of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) has nearly 140,550 people registered on the electoral lists.

Emmanuel Macron collects there 77,65% voices at second tourwell ahead of the candidate of the National Rally (22.35%). He makes a worse result than in 2017, losing 3.6 points. Abstention reached 30.15%.

During the first round of this presidential election, the inhabitants of Strasbourg placed Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the lead with 35.48% of the vote. Outgoing President Emmanuel Macron was in second position (30.19%), while Marine Le Pen completed the top three by obtaining 11.06% of the vote. Near 26% of voters abstained.

In 2017, the people of Strasbourg voted in the second round of the presidential election overwhelmingly in favor of Emmanuel Macron by granting him 81.24% of the votes. During this vote, the abstention had also reached 26%.
