SHARJAH, 2nd February, WAM / The Institute of Leadership in Higher Education at the University of Sharjah organized a workshop on building capacities for heads of academic departments, with the aim of giving them the opportunity to identify areas for improving leadership methods, and enabling them to manage, guide and motivate the university family, especially the new ones, to better integrate into teamwork. .

The workshop was attended by the Rector of the University of Sharjah, His Excellency Dr. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, deputy rectors, deans of faculties and heads of departments.

The university president pointed out the importance of the roles of department heads and faculty members in guiding and guiding university students to serve the community and contribute to promoting sustainability, stressing the need to focus on the practical application of study programs and follow innovative teaching methods with the use and application of the latest technology to support the educational process. Dr. Youssef El-Hayek, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, said that the workshop is an opportunity for discussion and exchange of ideas and experiences between university leaders and strengthening relations between them. It is in line with university standards and requirements.

Dr. Maher Omar, Director of the Institute for Leadership in Higher Education, said that the university is counting on the heads of departments to move forward in strengthening the university’s march and its aspiration for the future, noting that the university organizes a number of competitions to improve students’ skills and abilities and encourages them to actively participate in developing creative ideas to enhance innovative educational practices and solutions. These include the “Design for the Future of Higher Education” competition and the 3-minute thesis challenge for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr. Essam El-Din Ajami, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation Affairs, spoke about the university’s policies, procedures, and academic accreditations, while Dr. Hussein Mohamed El-Mahdi, Dean of Academic Support Services and Secretary of the Deans’ Council, gave a presentation on “How to identify the challenges that students face during their academic career and help them overcome them.” Dr. Youssef El-Hayek, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, touched on the issue of diversity, equality and inclusiveness among the faculty members of the university.

Dr. Nadia Mahdi Al-Hassani, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design, spoke about the role of department heads in the student registration process and their success. Dr. Sawsan Al-Qawas, Deputy Dean of the College of Dentistry, discussed the topic of “Appointing, evaluating and guiding faculty members.” Dr. Abdul-Wahhab bin Muhammad, Dean of the College of Dentistry, spoke Engineering on how to manage new faculty members from various departments in the context of diversity of cultures, and Dr. Abbas Amira, Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics, discussed the Academy’s innovation and sustainability programs.
