Emirates News Agency – Emirati Newspaper Editorials Today

ABU DHABI, September 18 / The newspaper WAM / Al-Bayan said in its editorial titled “Pioneering in the Green Economy” that the UAE launched in 2012 its green development strategy, a long-term national initiative to build a green economy, under the slogan “A green economy for sustainable development”, through which it aims to be a global leader in this field and a center for the export and re-export of green products and technologies, as well to maintain a sustainable environment that supports long-term economic growth.

He added that the UAE is making great efforts to preserve the environment, gradually transition to a green economy in various fields, reduce dependence on traditional energy sources, and maintain a healthy environment that supports long-term economic growth, while the UAE is working to implement the concept of green economy in all sectors, for example the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 has been launched, which aims to make the emirate a global center for clean energy and green economy , and other projects and initiatives that ensure the construction of a sustainable future for present and future generations.

The UAE has also become a leader in the Middle East when it comes to the use of clean fuels: since 2014 it has forced all commercial vehicles powered by diesel, which contains 500 parts per million of sulfur, to use “green diesel” , which contains 10 parts. It has also opened the first green service station in the Emirates Hills district of Dubai, where this type of station applies the latest technologies and specifications, the most important of which are devices to contain the discharge of gasoline from the pump and a waste isolation system.

He concluded that the UAE has laid the foundation for many major projects in the field of renewable energy, the most important of which is Shams 1, which is the largest concentrated solar power plant in the world, as well as a waste-to-energy plant in Abu Dhabi and a solar park in Dubai. It also launched the Masdar City project in Abu Dhabi, which aims to provide a sustainable business model for an eco-friendly city, making it the region’s first clean energy engine.

The Al-Khaleej newspaper, under the title “The United Nations in Crisis”, said: Since the Cold War in the second half of the last century, the world has not experienced such difficult circumstances as today in light of the accumulation of crises. and the intensification of the polarization between the major powers.

He pointed out that on the eve of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York City, there is no glimmer of hope for an impending breakthrough in international relations, but indicators confirm that this year’s meetings will be severe. and in crisis, and will not come out with the desired consent.

And I concluded that in two years’ time the whole world expected it would breathe a sigh of relief when the Corona pandemic ends and life returns to normal, but the evacuation of the pandemic came with great disappointment, after revealing strong divisions between Western countries on the one hand and Russia and China on the other. Insanely fast, after the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis, blockades began to form and exchanged speeches abounded with threats, threats, exchanges of sanctions and preparations for the worst. This charged atmosphere will not help the success of the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, but it will make it a platform for the reiteration of what has been in recent months and a platform for threats and all expressions contrary to the principles of coexistence and peace. .
