Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center continues to successfully treat six cancer patients with bone marrow transplant treatment

ABU DHABI, February 13, 2021 (WAM) – The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center (ADSCC) continues the implementation of the Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program (AD-BMT) which it launched in July 2020.

So far, a total of six patients with malignant blood tumors have been successfully treated and are recovering well.

Initiated by ADSCC, the AD-BMT program was established to provide the highest level of care in the field of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Admission to the program began in early August 2020 and has included patients with different types of malignant blood tumors including multiple myeloma, plasma cell leukemia, diffuse large B cell lymphoma, and Hodgkin lymphoma. The duration of treatment varied for each patient, ranging from 19 days to one month.

The exemplary clinical results of the program have enabled ADSCC to seek international accreditation for the program.

ADSCC goes further and takes a holistic approach to ensure the appropriate use and implementation of technology, sustainable and environmentally responsible practices, and a commitment to innovation and translational research. . This approach establishes a model for the program that would facilitate its expansion to offer other procedures and treatments.

As such, the AD-BMT program continues to admit patients for treatment and will soon increase the capacity to be able to treat more than one patient simultaneously, with the broader goal of being able to treat not only patients with hematologic disorders, but also patients with autoimmune diseases and primary immune deficiencies.
