Emilio Sutherland’s New Program “I Was There” Debuts Leading Tune | TV and Show

This Saturday a new space was released within the strip “Late culture” Channel 13. This is “I was there”, in charge of Emilio Sutherland, which led in tune, according to data from the private station.

Between 3:00 p.m. and 4:07 p.m., the 13 reached 8.3 online rating points, with a peak of 10 units at 3:23 p.m. At the same time, TVN had 3.6 points, Mega 7.4, Chilevisión 7.2 and La Red 0.9 units.

“I was there” focuses on different disasters or natural catastrophes that have hit the country, but thanks to the spirit and the ability to overcome that Chileans have, it highlights how people manage to unite and stand up again and again .

“It is a program that comes at just the right time because despite the fact that it shows catastrophes that have occurred throughout Chile in recent years, it also shows a very positive side, which is how people overcome their tragedies or the loss of their loved ones dear ones and their homes and get ahead ”Emilio Sutherland points out.

The first episode of “I was there” focused on the Chaitén tragedy, recalling what happened on May 1, 2008, when the volcano of the same name, after 450 years of inactivity and located just 10 kilometers from the city, erupted and caused a major disaster.

The new space for “Culture Afternoon” on the 13th showed everything from what the evacuation of around 7,000 people was like back then to interviews and the current look and life of some of the victims of this natural catastrophe.

In this sense, they highlighted the cases of radio announcer Chaitén Bernardo Riquelme, who decided to stay in the city; Marioly Rozas, who lost his home; and Rocelia Nahuelcar, a woman who suffered the disappearance of her brother Ramón. Added to this, his mother died of cancer six months after the eruption of the volcano.

Despite the adversities that the eruption of the volcano meant for them, “I was there” rescued the hopeful and positive gaze with which they faced all this. “In some ways, this is a wonderful program in the sense that it opens a window of hope, especially in these times of pandemic where people suffer a significant level of anxiety”, Emilio Sutherland emphasizes.

For the debut of this program, the renowned journalist visited and made known what Chaitén looks like today and the triumph of the people who gave the fight to keep the city alive and not be closed, as was the initial idea of ​​the authorities .
