Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Commissioner for the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Retno Listyarti appreciated the Ministry of Education and Culture who finally drafted it emergency curriculum in the midst of a pandemic Covid-19.

According to Retno, with the exemption from application to the school, Nadiem has the potential to repeat Anies Baswedan’s mistakes when he was Minister of Education and Culture in the 2014-2019 period. At that time he was Minister of Education and Culture, Anies implemented two curricula in one academic year.

“There should not be any implementation of a different curriculum in a new academic year because it will confuse teachers and schools in the field, as happened when Mendikbud Anies Baswedan, namely the enactment of two curricula, the 2013 curriculum with the KTSP curriculum (Education Unit Level Curriculum),” he said. The KPAI commissioner in charge of the education sector.

The former Secretary General of the Federation of Indonesian Teachers’ Unions (FSGI) assessed that the emergency curriculum that was prepared by the Ministry of Education and Culture should be implemented throughout Indonesia to relieve teachers, students and parents.

For your information, on this Friday evening Nadiem has announced the preparation of an emergency curriculum. However, he did not require all schools to follow this emergency curriculum. For schools that have simplified the curriculum independently, it is still allowed.

“I want to emphasize that education units are not obliged to follow this emergency curriculum. If they still feel comfortable using the 2013 national curriculum, please,” said Nadiem at a press conference held by the Ministry of Education and Culture online.

Previously, teachers and teacher professional organizations had long collected the Ministry of Education and Culture’s promise to issue an emergency curriculum in the midst of the corona virus pandemic. They assess that the current learning process cannot be forced according to the 2013 curriculum.
