EMA approves two more drugs against corona

The European medicines agency EMA has again approved two drugs for the treatment of patients with corona.

It primarily concerns Ronapreve for people from 12 years of age who have an extra chance of a serious course of the disease, but who do not need extra oxygen.

Ronapreve can also be used for prevention in people from 12 years old who run the risk that corona will be very bad for them. It also concerns Regkirona, for the treatment of adults with Covid, who also do not need supplemental oxygen and who are also at increased risk of their disease becoming serious.

‘Comforting’

The European Commission welcomes the medicines very much. “With Covid-19 infections on the rise in nearly all Member States, it is reassuring to see that many promising treatments are under development as part of our Covid-19 therapeutic strategy. Today we are taking an important step towards our goal of approving up to five new treatments in the EU by the end of the year,” said Health and Food Safety Commissioner Stella Kyriakides.

The drug remdesivir was previously approved.
