Lunar Gateway is a space station that will be located in the lunar orbit and will serve as a scientific laboratory and short-term habitat for astronauts who are making trips to the Moon.
It will also function as a communications center between Earth and the Moon.
The announcement was released by Elon Musk’s same company, SpaceX, through social media. In addition to carrying supplies, the company will be responsible for carrying scientific experiments and cargo so that the platform can function.

“NASA selected SpaceX from Hawthorne, California, as the first commercial supplier to the US. USA under the Gateway Logistics Services contract to deliver cargo, experiments and other supplies to the agency’s Gateway in lunar orbit. This is an important step forward for NASA’s Artemis program that will land the first woman and the next man on the Moon by 2024, ” NASA said in its statement.
He added that SpaceX will deliver pressurized and non-pressurized critical cargo, scientific experiments, and supplies to the Gateway, such as sample collection materials and other items that the crew may need at the Gateway and during their expeditions to the lunar surface.
