Elko Nevada Temple Dedicated with Prayers for Protection, Patron Blessing
ELKO, NEVADA – October 12, 2025 – The Elko Nevada temple was dedicated today with a prayer invoking divine protection and blessings upon its patrons, temple workers, and the surrounding community. The dedicatory prayer, offered by a Church leader, consecrated the temple grounds, structure, and all its facilities as a house of the Lord.
The prayer specifically dedicated the baptistry, ordinance rooms, and celestial room as spaces for “solace and sacred communion” with God. A plea was made for protection “from the ravages of nature, time and any hands who would do it harm,” and for the temple to serve as “a symbol of light and peace and a strength for all eyes that fall upon it.”
blessings were also requested for the temple presidency, matron, assistants, and all future temple workers. the prayer emphasized a hope that patrons would receive “spiritual insight” into the ordinances performed within its walls – baptism, washing and anointing, the endowment, and sealing – for both themselves and their ancestors.
The dedicatory prayer also expressed a desire that the temple’s proximity would bless members of the temple district, encouraging frequent worship and a strong covenant path for the rising generation. A specific prayer was offered that youth would “always be worthy to hold a temple recommend and to use it frequently enough,” and that the “power of godliness will be manifest unto them.”
The Elko Nevada Temple is the 187th temple operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide.
