Elisabeth Warren withdraws her candidacy – page 1

Senator Elizabeth Warren is no longer running for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. As several US media reports unanimously, she withdrew her application. Warren had been disappointing in the Super Tuesday primaries, finishing third in her home state of Massachusetts. Multi-billionaire Michael Bloomberg had already ended his election campaign on Wednesday.

After a winning streak, the field of applicants is led by former US Vice President Joe Biden. He had made an unexpected comeback in the primaries. The moderate candidate won in 10 out of 14 states. The only serious competitor Bidens is now the left Senator Bernie Sanders. It had become increasingly apparent to Warren that she had no chance. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has no realistic prospect of being nominated, but has not yet announced her withdrawal.

Warren had gotten into her party’s race promisingly and had been leading national polls among Democratic presidential candidates for a long time. 70-year-old Warren is a Massachusetts state senator and a keen critic of Wall Street.

It wanted to fight corruption more strongly and called for “major structural change” in the country. Some Democrats accused her of not fully supporting the concept of health care for everyone. Others thought their policies, which included a tax for the super-rich, were too extreme.
