Corona was also previously detected in Germany and France. This did not lead to fatalities.

  • An infection was also detected for the first time in Croatia and Switzerland.

  • Also corona infection in the Italian region of Tuscany.
  • Tuesday morning first infection detected in southern Italy.

One of the two cases of infection in Tuscany concerns a tourist in the city of Florence.

The corona virus has reached the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. The first infection was recorded there in Switzerland. The Minister of Health, Alain Berset, told journalists that the country is well prepared and the government is keeping a close eye on the situation. The virus was diagnosed in a 70-year-old man in the southern canton of Ticino. He must have contracted the new corona virus at a meeting in mid-February in Milan.

Almost 70,000 people go from Italy to Ticino, who speaks Italian, every day to work there. According to Berset, there are no travel restrictions. Ticino is a sort of cove in the Italian region of Lombardy. Most of the coronavirus cases were found there in Italy.

The Romanian authorities argue that corona infections have already been reported in the country. State Secretary for Health Andrei Baciu says that no-one has yet tested positive for the virus. “So far there have only been negative test results.”

A Romanian television channel had previously reported that a man with the virus had been admitted to a specialized hospital in the capital, Bucharest. According to medical sources, that patient returned a few weeks ago from Italy, where around 1.3 million Romanians live and work.
