Running for the circus guest performance

The Johann-Hinrich-Wichern elementary school in Sonsbeck starts a sponsored run and is very happy about the guest performance of “Zirkus Sonsbelli”.

From June 12th to 18th, on the meadow behind the Johann Hinrich Wichern elementary school in Sonsbeck, the motto is “Clear the ring for the Sonsbelli circus!” All 251 pupils in the eleven classes will experience artistic life in and around the circus over four project days big circus tent. To finance the circus project, which takes place every four years at the elementary school and is an integral part of the school program, the school community organizes a sponsored run in advance.

The circus project had to be canceled two years ago due to the corona virus. That’s why this time only the children of the first two years are running. The third and fourth graders made their contribution to the circus project in autumn 2019, explains Rector Martin Nenno.

“On your marks, get set, go!” will be the motto on Thursday, April 7, from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A few weeks ago, the children secured sponsorship contributions from parents, grandparents, relatives and neighbors. The sponsors themselves determine the contributions per lap around the school. The money raised from the two sponsored runs in 2019 and at the beginning of April goes directly to the children. Because in June the long-awaited project of the school community will finally start.

Everyone – students, parents and teachers – is looking forward to a great circus experience with the Circus for Kids – Rondel, which will be a guest in Sonsbeck for the third time. Headmaster Nenno: “After the long Corona period with many hardships and restrictions, I am glad that we as a school community can finally experience something great together again.” The school’s organizational team would be happy if many parents and grandparents came to the sponsored run to cheer the kids on. “Only then is running really fun,” says the teacher.
