Electronic Arts Tetris games to disappear from App Store and Play Store – News

Electronic Arts Tetris mobile games will bow out: from April 21, it will no longer be possible to play Tetris 2011, Tetris Premium and Tetris Blitz.

The withdrawal process has already started since these three games are no longer downloadable, either on the Play store (Android) or the App Store (iOS). Electronic Arts sent a message in the applications concerned to announce the bad news without giving any justification, but it is logically a question of a loss of license: in 2005, Electronic Arts bought the publisher Jamdat, at the time holder of the Tetris license. The American firm then inherited the operating rights from Tetris on mobile devices for a period of fifteen years.

The next generation is however already here: the N3twork studio published yesterday a new free-to-play Tetris under official license, both on iOS and Android. The battle royale Tetris Royale, already available in some countries, will also be arriving soon.
