The electric Volvo is here: The first Polestar 2 have arrived in Europe. The electric cars manufactured in China will first be handed over to buyers in Scandinavia. Deliveries to other European countries should follow.

The car is being built in Luqiao, east China’s Zhejiang Province. Despite the corona crisis, the Swedish company, which belongs to the Chinese automobile manufacturer Geely, started series production of the electric car as planned at the end of March. The first tranche of the vehicles has arrived in the port of Zeebrugge in Belgium and will be transported on land.
The first vehicles are to be handed over in August, first in Sweden and Norway. Buyers in Germany, Belgium, the UK and the Netherlands will get their vehicles immediately afterwards. The vehicles ordered in Switzerland will also be delivered this year.
The Polestar 2 is a hatchback sedan powered by two electric motors. These enable all-wheel drive with an output of 300 kilowatts and a torque of 660 Newton meters. From a standing start, the car accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour in less than five seconds.
The car is equipped with a battery with a storage capacity of 78 kilowatt hours, which is housed in the vehicle floor. The range is 470 kilometers according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle. Charging takes place with a power of up to 150 kilowatts.
Volvo presented the Polestar 2 at the Geneva Motor Show last year. The new brand was set up for electric vehicles. Polestar was originally Volvo’s in-house tuner and has now established itself as a brand for electric cars.
The manufacturer has announced a cooperation with Waymo. The company plans to integrate Waymo’s technology for autonomous driving into Polestar electric cars. The aim is for the vehicles to drive in a highly automated manner (level 4) in the future.
