The price of over 3.5 million will probably not be a big surprise, but how does it compare to a classic competitor?

The recently introduced BMW 7 Series, which has adopted a controversial mask with split headlights modeled after the BMW X7will be launched on the European market first in the purely electric version of the i7, which will be complemented by a six – cylinder diesel, two plug – in hybrid six – cylinder petrol engines next spring, and over time we should see the top purely electric version with the letter M on the label.
The basic electric version of the i7 xDrive60 will be the first to enter the Czech market in December 2022, under the hood of which we will find a pair of electric motors with a combined power of 400 kW (544 hp). Although we do not yet know the battery capacity, the range should be in the range of 590 to 625 kilometers according to WLTP.

However, a purely electric limousine can be ordered now, starting at a price starting at CZK 3,552,900 (including VAT). At the same time, the car promises rich equipment, an increase in interior space and, last but not least, innovation in many areas – including connectivity, operator concept or assistance and entertainment systems.
We then took a look at one of the biggest competitors of the BMW seat, or the BMW i7, which will traditionally be the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. In this case, the purely electric version of the EQS.
It starts in the basic version of the EQS 350 from CZK 2,778,160 (including VAT), but will only offer rear-wheel drive and power of only 215 kW (292 hp). However, the range is a decent 615 kilometers. The more powerful version of the EQS 450+ beats BMW in an estimated range of up to 728 km, but it is still only a rear bike with an output of only 245 kW (333 hp).

Probably the closest equivalent of the BMW i7 xDrive60 will be the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic, which offers all-wheel drive, a slightly worse power of 385 kW (523 hp) and a slightly higher range of up to 660 kilometers. However, its price starts significantly higher – from 3,914,350 crowns.
The basic equipment of both models should be very rich and varied, but we would rather wait a while with a detailed comparison. After all, while the EQS is already on sale, it has a functional online configurator and we will soon look at it in our test, the BMW 7 Series – the i7, only the basic configurator without prices works and will not hit the market until the autumn.
