ELECTIONS – Robert de la Cruz says he took a license in the DNI to be a delegate of the PLD in the JCE

Santo Domingo, RD.

Robert de la Cruz, delegate of the Dominican Liberation Party to the Central Electoral Board, said he took a license from the National Research Directorate (DNI), where he serves as deputy director.

De la Cruz, also personal assistant to President Danilo Medina, said he took leave without pay last September, when Gonzalo Castillo appointed him as technical delegate to the Central Electoral Board.

Robert de la Cruz was questioned by Juarez Castillo, of the Progressive National Force, last Tuesday at the public hearing held by the Central Electoral Board with political parties.

Castillo denounced that De la Cruz maintained his functions in the DNI and was a delegate of a political party, in violation of the law that created the National Directorate of Investigations, which prohibits its director and deputy directors from doing political activism.

Robert de la Cruz presented this morning the documentation that assures that he is in license for his duties.

In that position as deputy director of the DNI was appointed by the president of the Republic, Danilo Medina, replacing Miguel Mercedes, who went from being assistant to the Dominican president to administrator of the National Lottery.
