An 87-year-old Belgian killed his also 87-year-old wife by hitting her head with a hammer.
A brother of the man discovered what had happened when he brought groceries to their villa in Oostrozebeke in West Flanders. The woman was still alive, but seriously injured. The brother warned the emergency services, but they could no longer save her, writes the VRT.
The man and woman, former antique dealers, led a secluded life and feared a robbery. “Usually they sat in the back kitchen, the living room remained untouched,” writes The last news. The couple would have argued regularly.
