Bethesda’s Todd Howard Leaves Door Open to Elder Scrolls TV Series,Prioritizes Fallout Success
bethesda Game Studios executive Producer Todd Howard has indicated a potential television adaptation of The Elder Scrolls franchise isn’t off the table, though he maintains fallout was the more natural fit for a streaming series. Howard’s comments come amid the massive success of Amazon’s Fallout show, which has already been renewed for a third season.
Speaking to IGN, Howard explained the decision to begin with Fallout, stating the post-apocalyptic RPG’s established world and tone lent itself more readily to television. “fallout is a world that’s been built up over 25 years with a lot of lore and a lot of characters,” he said. “It felt more uniquely suited to being adapted.” He did not dismiss the possibility of an Elder scrolls series in the future, but emphasized the focus remains on maximizing the Fallout adaptation.
The success of the Fallout series, starring Ella Purnell,Walton Goggins, and Aaron moten, has fueled speculation about further expansions of Bethesda’s properties into television. Season 3 is confirmed, and Moten has suggested a potential endpoint for the series as far out as Season 5 or 6, having been informed of a long-term character arc upon joining the project.
Howard’s statements offer a glimpse into Bethesda’s strategy for adapting its beloved game franchises, prioritizing projects based on their suitability for the medium and existing world-building. While fans await news on The Elder Scrolls 6, the possibility of seeing Tamriel brought to life on screen remains open.
