Elden appointed as legal aid lawyer in the Espås case

Espås was raped and killed in Geiranger on August 8, 1996, and since then the case has been an unsolved murder case. TV 2 reports that Elden has been appointed at the request of the victim’s mother.

– It characterizes her that the murder of her daughter has not been solved. It has been a long time since the crime, but there is a reason why murder cases in Norway do not become obsolete. This case will be pursued until the perpetrator is caught, says Elden.

He will go through 25,000 pages of police documents from the investigation.

Police Inspector Yngve Skovly has been the head of investigation on the case for 25 years and says that there are a handful of interesting people who do not have an alibi in the case.

Murder cases are not statute-barred in Norway, but other offenses in the case are statute-barred. This means that people who, for example, have participated or hidden information in the case, can tell about it without being punished.
