The missile attack comes just days after Ukraine said a Russian missile strike killed at least 18 people at a mall in the central city of Kremenchuk. Photos from Mykolaiv showed smoke billowing from a four-story building with the upper floor partially destroyed.
Ukraine accuses Russia of deliberately killing civilians when it stormed a shopping mall in Kremenchuk. Moscow said the mall was empty and the missile hit a nearby weapons depot.
“Russian missiles hit this location precisely. It is clear that Russian assassins received those exact coordinates,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a video address that evening. “They want to kill as many people as possible,” he continued.

Further east in Lysychansk, the Luhansk region, the main battleground in the Russian offensive in the industrial heart of the Donbas, the governor reported increased military action.
“The situation in Lysychansk is very difficult,” Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said on television. “Russia uses every weapon available to them and regardless of whether it is a military target or not – schools, kindergartens, cultural institutions,” he said.
