New Aquitaine remains one of the regions of France least impacted by the epidemic. The first projections made by the Pasteur Institute show that the percentage of potentially infected people would be on May 11, the date of the start of deconfinement, of 1.4% in the region against 5.7% for the national average. In its daily report, the ARS specifies, in the preamble, that if it is only a question of modeling results, the data coming from the monitoring systems also go in this direction.
In addition, compared to other French regions, the region has a lower number of deaths (less than 15 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants).
Overall, the analyzes reveal two elements which may explain the favorable epidemiological situation in New Aquitaine, explains the ARS: the containment intervened closely after the start of the epidemic in the region and the presence of a only cluster in Lot-et-Garonne, but which was quickly mastered.

Place on the daily report, the ARS indicates that 75 new cases have been confirmed by Public Health France in the past 24 hours, for a total of 4,461 since the start of the epidemic (an identified duplicate has been removed in total).
In the hospital
– 727 people are currently hospitalized (- 42 compared to the previous day)
– 144 people are currently in intensive care or intensive care (- 12 compared to the previous day)
– 1,243 people have been discharged from the hospital cured since the start of the epidemic (+ 44 compared to the previous day)
Since the start of the epidemic, there have been 285 deaths among those hospitalized (+ 8 compared to the previous day).
In the Ehpad
By isolating the closed reports (126 negative tests or return to normal), as of April 24, 187 Ehpad are currently concerned by a confirmed or suspect Covid-19 situation among residents or staff, i.e. 20.8% of Ehpad of our region.
Among the reports, 1,344 residents were recorded as confirmed or possible cases (suspects presenting with symptoms) Covid-19 (-23 compared to the previous day)
Among these possible or confirmed cases, 97 died in institutions (+ 2 compared to the previous day) and 57 died in hospital (- 6 compared to the previous day following seizure adjustments made by establishments in Gironde, Creuse and Haute-Vienne. These deaths are included in the number of deaths among those hospitalized above).
As part of the doctrine of systematic screening in Ehpad, ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine recalls that it triggers it as soon as a first case is confirmed in a resident or a member of staff. All residents and staff of the establishment are then screened.
