EHC Whisk in Pre-Playoff Danger – EHC Olten probably «through»
–
The EHC Visp are threatened with the pre-playoffs, the Valais can no longer make the direct playoff qualification on their own after the 5: 7 bankruptcy at the GCK Lions. It looks different at EHC Olten, after the 6-0 success in the derby against SC Langenthal, the team should be “through”, as HC La Chaux-de-Fonds and EHC Visp still beat the EHC in the last round Kloten and HC Ajoie respectively have to compete – both of which are still fighting a long-distance duel for the qualifying victory. A few facts in the round-up for the Swiss League round:
- Kristers Arnicans shoot EHC Visp well in pre-playoffs: The young Latvian Kristers Arnicans will probably shoot EHC Visp into the pre-playoffs, as HC Thurgau and EHC Olten will face each other on the last day of the game while the Valais will still have to deal with HC Ajoie. Kristers Arnicans scores twice in the 7-5 win against EHC Visp.
- In vain in extension: The EVZ Academy unsuccessfully urged EHC Kloten to extend it: Because the Ticino Rockets won against HC La Chaux-de-Fonds at the same time, the Zugers no longer have a chance of a pre-playoff rank.
- Mason McTavish ensures derby victory: With two goals, Mason McTavish is one of the builders of the 6-0 derby victory of EHC Olten against SC Langenthal. The EHCO comes very close to the direct playoff qualification.
- HC Thurgau missed direct qualification: Because of a 2: 4 defeat against HC Sierre, HC Thurgau missed securing the playoff qualification, but this is still possible on its own in the last round against EHC Olten.
- HC Ajoie wins in the final minutes: EHC Winterthur equalizes twice before HC Ajoie rushes from a 2-2 intermediate result to a 5-2 win in the 57th minute; thanks in part to two goals from Jonathan Hazen.
- The best scorers: 1. Jonathan Hazen (HC Ajoie 41 goals / 39 assists / 80 points). 2. Philip-Michael Devos (HC Ajoie 26 Goals / 53 Assists / 79 Points). Guillaume Asselin (HC Sierre, 25/41/66). 4. Arnaud Montandon (HC Sierre 36/28/64). 5. Eric Faille (16/45/61). 6. Robin Figren (EHC Kloten 28/30/58). 7. Gary Nunn (EHC Olten 26/31/57). 8. Timothy Coffman (HC La Chaux-de-Fonds 21/32/53). 9. Eero Elo (22/28/50). 10. Riley Brace (EHC Winterthur 18/32/50).
- The table: 1. HC Ajoie 45 Games / 100 Points. 2. EHC Kloten 45 games / 99 points. 3. SC Langenthal 45/90. HC HCrere 45/81. 5. EHC Olten 45/68. 6. HC Thurgau 45/66. 7. HC La Chaux-de-Fonds 45/65. 8. EHC Visp 45/65. 9. GCK Lions 45/53. 10. Ticino Rockets 45/48. 11. EVZ Academy 45/43. 12. EHC Winterthur 45/32.
- The real master: The true champions of the Swiss League are now the GCK Lions.
