A dozen pre-dynastic tombs dating from the pre-Pharaoh period have been discovered by archaeologists in Egypt. The discovery is very important and for the first time brings to light artifacts from 5 thousand years ago. The results of studies in the province of Dakahlia north of Cairo could shed light on two important transitional periods in ancient Egypt. “This is an extremely interesting cemetery because it combines some of the earliest periods of Egyptian history with another important era, the era of the Hyksos,” said Salima Ikram, an Egyptologist at the American University of Cairo, commenting on the discovery.
