Efficiency Rankings: Port of Mūga in Estonia Ranks Highest Among European Container Ports

The study, which was prepared for the third time, collected data on the time that ships have to spend in the port for carrying out cargo-related activities.

Last year, the port of Riga fell by 17 positions compared to 2021.

Among the ports of the region, the port of Mūga in Estonia is ranked highest, which last year was recognized as the 183rd most efficient container port in the world. In 2021, the port of Mūga was in 175th place.

The port of Klaipėda, on the other hand, dropped from 186th place in 2021 to 195th place last year.

The Russian port of St. Petersburg is in 244th place (256th place in 2021), while the Polish ports of Gdynia and Gdańsk occupy 225th and 289th place respectively (255th and 203rd place in 2021).

Among the ports of the European and North African region, Mūga is the 49th most efficient container port, ahead of Klaipeda (55th place), Gdynia (71st place), Riga (73rd place), Saint Petersburg (77th place) and Gdańsk (92nd place).

The latest study examines 348 container ports from around the world that received at least 24 ships last year. Yangshan Port in Shanghai was recognized as the most efficient port.
