The electricity and gas supplier Bohemia Energy will cease to exist. The company decided to voluntarily close down to prevent the impending bankruptcy. The company got into financial problems due to rising energy prices, which have become several times more expensive on the stock exchange since the beginning of the year. None of the customers will lose their energy supply. They will be provided by the so-called supplier of last resort – ie the main supplier in the given distribution area. The head of the German Volkswagen Group, Herbert Diess, arrived in the Czech Republic on Monday. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš was to discuss with him the possible construction of a gigafactory – a giant factory for batteries for electric cars, which the car giant could build in the Czech Republic. In the end, however, the Prime Minister did not meet with Diess, he sent Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček on his behalf. And what did the Deputy Prime Minister negotiate? He signed a memorandum with Volkswagen, according to which three thousand charging stations for electric cars will be built in the Czech Republic by 2025. Negotiations on the gigafactory have been postponed. Volkswagen is said to call in half a year. So perhaps it will not be too late at that time and another European state will not get an investment in the order of tens of billions of crowns. The Czech Republic is far from one country that strives for a gigafactory on its territory.

The production crisis at Škoda Auto is collecting a personnel tax. From October 18 until the end of the year, the carmaker will significantly reduce or stop production in all three of its Czech plants. According to current information from the unions, this will cause a large relocation of employees in the company. For many of them, the company would not have use otherwise. Therefore, in November, it will start moving people to other positions to a greater extent. It will also create so-called overhang centers, where it will include workers for whom it has no job.
