Mainz (dpa / lrs) – The Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Education Stefanie Hubig (SPD) informed today (2 p.m.) about the next steps at day care centers and schools. A particular focus is on protecting children, adolescents and educational specialists from corona infection. Scientists from Mainz University Medical Center will also take part in the virtual press conference – the virologist Bodo Plachter, the hygiene expert Wolfgang Kohnen and the pediatrician Fred Zepp.

At the day care centers in Rhineland-Palatinate, regular operation is currently still offered for urgent needs. However, the institutions responsible for the facilities, the State Parents’ Committee and the Ministry of Education have called on families to stop sending children to daycare where possible and to look after them themselves. At least for the first two weeks of the year, distance learning is planned in schools as scenario 3 for the different developments in times of the corona pandemic.
