Education: Habena High School faces return to school affected by floods

As the administrative start of the school year scheduled for September 16 approaches, and the resumption of classes for test levels on September 23, followed by intermediate classes on October 1, Habena High School is finding himself in a critical situation. Rainwater is attacking the administration building as well as several classrooms.

This situation, caused by the heavy rain that fell on N’Djamena, puts pressure on the center and its managers. The principal of the high school, Agdy Bandja Appolo, expressed his concern about this natural disaster that affects the proper functioning of the center. “Our ministry has already published a recovery timetable. We will do everything, despite the fact that the school is in the water, to ensure that the timetable given by our superiors is applied.“, he said.

Although local education authorities intend to honor the official start of the school year, the conditions in which the high school currently finds itself make this task particularly difficult. The presence of water in classrooms and offices makes it difficult to organize recovery. In addition, the fear of deterioration of an already weak infrastructure adds to teachers’ concerns.

Agdy Bandja Appolo also launched an appeal to all stakeholders in the education community to help set up. “I am launching an urgent appeal to all NGOs, education partners as well as citizens of Habena to come to our aid, because if nothing is done, it will be difficult to ensure a normal return to school.“.

With this critical situation, eyes are now turning to the authorities and educational partners for quick intervention.
Habena high school, like many centers in N’Djamena, is today at the heart of the fight against floods to allow classes to resume peacefully.
