EDSA Shrine Protest: Bayan Group Rallies Against Corruption

Anti-corruption protesters gathered at the EDSA Shrine in Quezon City Saturday morning to demonstrate against ‍alleged irregularities in flood control‍ projects. Members of the group Bayan began assembling ‌outside the ⁢National Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, located at the corner of EDSA and Ortigas‍ Avenue, according⁣ to‍ a report by Mark Makalalad for Super‍ Radyo dzBB.

The⁣ protest was initially slated to begin at 8:30 a.m., but was delayed to allow for the arrival of additional participants. Bayan plans to march to the People Power Monument ‌on White Plains Avenue at 9:30 a.m.⁣

Protesters ⁢allege that funds earmarked for public projects and services​ are being diverted for personal gain by corrupt politicians⁣ and government contractors.

Authorities have deployed police⁢ officers to the area to maintain security during the exhibition. – RF, GMA⁤ Integrated News
