He first set up the Moselle association Kaloum Sogué, to promote African culture. In 2018, he launched a new humanitarian project to help children in his country of origin. “Access to healthcare is difficult,” he confesses, his voice tight. It evokes a significant mortality rate, glaring needs. Yekini got in touch with young Guinean doctors. “They immediately embraced the cause. “

The non-governmental organization Dimé mali works with several orphanages in Conakry. The health mission is also educational. The delivery of medicines is accompanied by school supplies. The Moselle association Kaloum Sogué and others in France support the NGO. Yekini Camara builds partnerships with the people, the structures, the students he meets on his way. “We can count on a doctor in Nancy who does a lot to help us. She is in particular in contact with the doctors in Guinea, they can exchange, ”he illustrates. The NGO relies on material but also financial donations. Yekini makes the link between countries.

Distribution of sanitary kits

For the moment, Guinea is cordoned off. She’s not spared the Covid-19, like other West African countries. According to the Jeune Afrique website, more than 3,000 cases have been officially detected. The virus is weakening an already critical situation and the health action led by the NGO Dimé Mali is all the more necessary.

“The money collected during an event last January helped finance the distribution of masks, washing kits and food,” said Yekini Camara. “Doctors in Conakry are very present in orphanages with teams and children. »Contact is maintained. Both motivation and work are increased tenfold.
