Edition Saint Avold – Creutzwald

74 deaths

The number of deaths has been falling for two weeks at the SOS Santé hospital in Saint-Avold. 74 people have still lost their lives since the start of the epidemic, with a peak in late March, early April (Thursday, April 2, the establishment had 45 dead, 17 more in four days). All over the Grand-Est, we see the curve stabilizing. On April 14, there were 59 patients killed by the virus: 9 more on April 24 (bringing the number to 68) and six more in one week, for a total of 74 people.

Like the Metz-Thionville CHR, Marie-Madeleine in Forbach, Robert-Pax in Sarreguemines, SOS Santé was “requisitioned” to manage the cases of Covid-19. “Everyone is fighting, everyone is mobilized. The caregivers redouble their efforts on a daily basis, do not count their hours and forget the extreme tiredness “, recognizes the direction. “But we will continue, because our goal is always to save as many lives as possible. “

Fewer patients on sheave

Another favorable indicator is that of the occupancy rate of resuscitation beds, 17 in total dedicated to Covid-19. Thursday, April 2, the organization of this service had been revised upwards, from 12 beds to 17 Covid-19 beds. The number of places in classical resuscitation had therefore increased from 8 to 4.

Of these 17 beds, 12 are currently occupied, four fewer since last week. Of these 12 patients, 3 are over 75 years of age, 7 are between 60 and 75 years of age and 2 are under 60 years of age. The older age groups remain those in which the coronavirus is most virulent.

Covid-19 Zone

At the height of the epidemic, the establishment requisitioned 107 beds to accommodate patients with coronavirus. Then their number fell on April 17 to 88 arrowed places, to arrive Friday April 24 at 69 beds, of which 54 were occupied. The device has not been revised downward, since the number of people infected has not changed positively in the past week.

To date, there are still 56 patients hospitalized in this unit. In detail, 36 are over 75 years old, 12 are between 60 and 75 years old and 8 are under 60 years old. The oldest people remain the most vulnerable.

Despite the gradual deconfinement of May 11, barrier gestures remain the best weapons against the disease. During his speech to the National Assembly on Tuesday April 28, Prime Minister Édouard Philippe asked the elderly to “continue to protect themselves”, by limiting contact and going out.

174 patients cured

Another encouraging indicator is the number of people healed and able to return to their homes. On April 24, there were 157. This Friday, the figure increased to 174, or 17 more sick in a week. It’s 63 more since April 20. The numbers keep growing in the right direction. For the record, there were only 13 on March 27 and 79 on April 14.

To ensure optimal follow-up, the SOS Santé hospital in Saint-Avold has made the decision not to drop its patients into the wild once they are out of business. He set up a telecare organization, a device allowing the follow-up of people contaminated by Covid-19 as soon as they leave the establishment and over several days. Before their departure, on D + 2, D + 4 and D + 9, they are contacted by telephone.
