Edeka against Coca Cola: price war affects assortment

German retailers are taking action against the pricing policy of the American manufacturer Coca-Cola. Focus-Online reports, citing the “Lebensmittelzeitung”. According to the magazine, several Edeka regions have recommended their retailers to stop ordering to varying degrees.

Edeka takes Coca-Cola products out of its range

The reason for this is the price and discount policy of the American shower water manufacturer. Edeka Nord suggests that its markets waive around 120 items. These include the following products:

  • 1.5 liter disposable bottle of Coke Zero
  • the usual 0.33 liter can
  • Vio Articles and Monster Products

Although Edeka did not pay attention to the dispute, Coca-Cola, on the other hand, said that the step was regretted because of long-standing, trusting and successful cooperation. “We are committed to the further partnership and want to continue the dialogue about future cooperation,” Focus-Online quotes the food giant.

Similar to Edeka, the associated discounter Netto is involved in the dispute. In the current advertising brochure, Netto advertises the competitive product Pepsi and its own energy drink.

Edeka’s approach is not new. In other disputes, the market had already removed Nestle products from its range. Edeka also got into a fight with Kraft Heinz.
