ED: PSV wanted to lure Van der Gaag away from Jong Ajax for newly formed staff

Mitchell van der Gaag was in the picture at PSV to become part of the new technical staff of Roger Schmidt. However, the Ajax coach recently extended his contract, keeping him active in Amsterdam.

PSV is currently forming a technical staff, who, together with the new trainer Roger Schmidt, will be in charge of the first team. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, Van der Gaag was a candidate to be part of the team of the German coach, but the former head coach of NAC and Excelsior, among others, decided to remain active in Amsterdam.

Van der Gaag is currently the coach of Jong Ajax there and extended his contract with the reigning national champion for two seasons, making it impossible for PSV to bring him to Brabant. Meanwhile, PSV continues to provide Schmidt with suitable technical staff. The German already takes one assistant to the Philips Stadium with Jörn Wolf.
