The Alinéa brand, whose head office is in Aubagne, has declared its state of cessation of payment with the Commercial Court of Marseille which has opened a bankruptcy procedure. According to the judgment that Provence consulted, Alinéa, which since 2017 had undertaken to reposition itself on a very competitive market, was weakened by the crises of yellow vests in late 2018, then pensions in 2019.
The closure of the 30 stores, due to the health crisis and the ensuing confinement, only aggravated Alinéa’s liabilities. Hence the decision of its president, Alexis Mulliez, to place itself under the protection of the commercial court. Alinéa employs nearly 2,000 people, including 250 in Aubagne.
