EcoBright comes with separate versions of LED dimmer for Zigbee and Z-Wave

The Dutch company EcoBright comes with a cheaper edition of the EcoDim LED dimmer. The EcoDim will be available in two versions, depending on which smart home platform is supported.

EcoDim Zigbee 0-200 Watt

The Zigbeeversion of the EcoDim is equipped with Touchlink support. This allows the device to be connected to other Touchlink products, without the need for a hub or controller. This makes it possible, for example, to set up a wireless switch. The dimmer can in fact make normal LED lamps “smart” when they are connected to the device. This version costs 99.95 euros at the time of writing on the EcoBright website.

EcoDim Z-Wave 0-200 Watt

The Z-Wave variant costs a dozen more than its counterpart. On the other hand, use is made of the latest Z-Wave Plus chip, which means that the device carries an official certificate. In addition, a consumption meter is available, but it can only be viewed if the control app used supports this. This way you can see how much watt the connected lamp group uses. The dimmer can also be used in a switch or hotel switch, provided that a push button is present at the other switch point.

Both versions can be connected with two existing wires, so no neutral wire and bypass are required. The dimmers must be suitable for all known cover materials and must support more than 90% of all dimmable LED lamps. With the soft-start system and the possibility to adjust a minimum and maximum brightness, the device is easy to use.

The original EcoDim appeared in September last year. Zigbee and Z-Wave were in this version both supported, but the price of the dimmer was on the high side. The company received feedback from consumers who stated that dimmers that supported one platform were much cheaper.
