Easy lot for BVB, only two Bundesliga duels: the pairings in the DFB Cup at a glance

The eight round of 16 pairings in the DFB Cup are certain: BVB is challenged against Paderborn and Bayern could meet Darmstadt.

Only two Bundesliga duels in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup: VfL Wolfsburg welcomes Schalke 04 in the round of 16 teams, Borussia Mönchengladbach travels to VfB Stuttgart. In addition, Borussia Dortmund has home rights in the Westphalia duel with second division SC Paderborn. That was the result of the draw on Sunday by Olympic ski jumping champion Sven Hannawald in Cologne.

Record winner and defending champion Bayern Munich will not play their second round match at Holstein Kiel until January 13th, the winner of this duel will receive second division Darmstadt 98 in the round of 16. The match between last year’s finalist Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt has also been postponed to January 12th. The winner goes to Rot-Weiss Essen, the last remaining fourth division team.

Easy lot for RB Leipzig too

The Bundesliga clubs RB Leipzig, 1. FC Cologne and Werder Bremen are all dealing with second division clubs. Leipzig welcomes VfL Bochum, Cologne has to go to Jahn Regensburg. Bremen plays in its own stadium against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The round of 16 will be played on February 2 and 3, 2021. The quarter-finals will follow on March 2nd and 3rd. After the semi-finals on May 1st and 2nd, the final will take place in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium on May 13th.
