The position of Chief of Police of East Java is now held by Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra. Previously, Teddy served as the West Sumatran Police Chief.

Amnesty International Indonesia executive director Usman Hamid believes it is necessary because Nico holds the highest security authority in the East Java region.
