PMJ NEWS – Cancer is one of the causes of a person’s death. However, this can be prevented if you recognize the signs of cancer early and undergo appropriate treatment therapy.
Timely medical evaluation, diagnostic tests and consultation with a healthcare professional can result in early diagnosis and better treatment outcomes.
Additionally regular health check-ups, screenings and maintaining open communication with your health care provider are important components of proactive cancer prevention and detection efforts.
As quoted from the Times of India page, Thursday (4/1/2024), the following are a series of signs or symptoms of cancer in the body:
1. Continuous Weight Loss
Unexpected weight loss, especially if it exceeds 5 percent of your total body weight in a short period of time, can be a danger sign of various types of cancer.
This is because cancer can change the body’s metabolism, causing weight loss, even if you don’t make changes to your diet or exercise routine.
2. Constant Fatigue
Although fatigue is a common symptom of many conditions, persistent and unexplained fatigue is something to be wary of. This could be an indication of a health problem, including cancer.
Cancer-related fatigue often does not improve after rest and can interfere with daily activities. If you consistently feel tired despite getting enough sleep and rest, it is important to discuss these symptoms with a doctor.
3. Changes in the skin
Changes in the skin, such as the appearance of new moles, changes in the size, shape, or color of existing moles, or the development of unusual skin growths, should be monitored closely.
Skin changes can be a sign of skin cancer or malignant diseases that attack other organs. Regular skin checks and prompt consultation with a dermatologist for any changes are essential for early detection and treatment.
4. Recurrent Pain
Pain is a complex symptom that can arise from a variety of conditions. Persistent, unexplained pain should be evaluated thoroughly. Persistent pain that doesn’t improve with over-the-counter medications could be a sign of cancer. Therefore, it is very important to pay attention to the location, duration and characteristics of the pain and communicate this to the doctor.
5. Difficulty Swallowing
Difficulty swallowing, also known as dysphagia, can be a symptom of esophageal or throat cancer. If you experience persistent difficulty swallowing, a sensation of food getting stuck, or pain when swallowing, it is important to seek medical attention.
Diagnostic tests, such as endoscopy, may be recommended to identify the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
