E42 motorway reopened in Grace-Hollogne

Highway Reopens After Truck Collision in Belgium

A major highway in Belgium faced closure earlier today following a crash. The incident between a truck and a buffer truck blocked traffic flow on the E42, causing significant delays during the morning commute.

Incident Overview

The collision occurred on the E42, specifically between Liège and Namur, near Grace-Hollogne. As a consequence, authorities established a detour, directing vehicles through the Liège Airport exit 3. Slowdowns began to appear around 8:20 am from Loncin.

Around 8:50 am, the impacted truck had been converted. Cleanup of the roadway had started at the time.

At 9:30 am, the highway was reopened for traffic. However, there was a residual congestion that needed time to dissipate.

Impact and Delays

There were also breakdowns reported on the E40. This affected traffic both coming from Brussels and from Barchon. Travelers from Aix-la-Chapelle endured approximately an hour of setbacks on the E40.

Traffic incidents and congestion contribute significantly to commute times. According to recent data, the average commute time in Europe has increased by 15% in the last decade (European Transportation Study).
