€ 18,000 for € 3,600 loan: Remaining claim waived – Lower Austria

Great news for Michaela K., who was born in Lower Austria, shortly before Christmas: She no longer has to pay the remaining 5,500 euros.

A good 20 years ago, Michaela K., now 48 years old, was persuaded by her brother: “My brother’s mother-in-law at the time needed money to renovate her apartment. And since he was not creditworthy, I let myself go.”

Debt for nothing

The Lower Austrian (Note: from rock from Wagram) and now a building cleaner living in Vienna-Brigittenau saw of the total loan amount over 100,000 Schilling (Note: are a good 7,200 euros) not a dime. 50,000 schillings (a good 3,600 euros) went to Michaela K. as co-debtor in BAWAG’s loan agreement, and 50,000 schillings to the brother’s ex-mother-in-law. “My brother’s ex-mother-in-law really needed the money, I didn’t then,” says Michaela K.

Both women paid the agreed installments for around a year, and in 2001 the execution came because installments had not been paid. Finally, a 50 euro monthly rate was agreed, Michaela K. paid the 50 euro monthly until the end (Note: according to your own information and account statements), the brother’s ex-mother-in-law, according to Michaela K., nothing.

No remaining claim

In 2012, when asked by the 48-year-old, Bawag named a remaining debt of over 3,000 euros, and Michaela K. continued to transfer her 50-euro installments. The bank took a close look at the facts, Florian Höllwarth did not give up – now, shortly before Christmas, the relieving news: Nothing is open anymore. “After intensive correspondence, the bank waived the remaining claim,” said Florian Höllwarth on December 23, 2020.
