Dzulhijjah-Arafah Fasting Schedule and Intentions Ahead of Eid Al-Adha 2022

Muslims in Indonesia will celebrate Eid al-Adha 2022. Ahead of the 2022 Sacrifice Day, it is sunnah for Muslims to fast Dzulhijjah, Tarwiyah, and Arafah. The following is the schedule and intention of fasting.

Reported from detikEdu, Fasting Dzulhijjah is done for the first nine days of Dhulhijjah. Between these days, there are Tarwiyah (8 Dhulhijjah) and Arafat (9 Dhulhijjah) fasts.

However, many opinions call the Tarwiyah fast included in the Dzulhijjah fast. Because no authentic evidence was found regarding the implementation of this fast. Meanwhile, the ninth day of Dhul -Hijjah is called the fast of Arafah because at that time the pilgrims perform wuquf in Arafah.

Dzulhijjah Fasting Schedule and Intentions

The government has determined that 1 Dhulhijjah will fall on July 1, 2022. So, the fast for Dzulhijjah started last Friday.

Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah has determined that 1 Djulhijjah will fall on June 30, 2022. And the fast for Dzulhijjah will start a day earlier than what NU has set, namely last Thursday.

Meanwhile, the intention of fasting Dzulhijjah is as follows.

I intended to fast as a Sunnah for God Almighty

Meaning: “I intend to fast the sunnah of the month of Dzulhijjah because of Allah ta’ala”

Arafah Fasting Schedule and Intentions

The Arafah fasting schedule as set by the government falls on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah has carried out the Arafah fast on Friday, July 8, 2022.

As for the intention of fasting Arafah as follows.

I intended to fast as a Sunnah for God Almighty

Meaning: “I intend to fast the Sunnah of Arafah because of Allah ta’ala”
