Dynamo breaks the series | Sports association Dynamo Dresden

Two goals, zero and three points with a packed guest block in the back: SG Dynamo Dresden won 2-0 (1-0) at Hallesches FC in front of 11,084 fans on the second day of the 2022/2023 third division season. Across all competitions and seasons, it was the first win for the black and yellow after 21 games not won. The team of head coach Markus Anfang, who has been coaching SGD since this season, has broken the streak and gained new self-confidence.

Compared to the DFB Cup game against VfB Stuttgart, Dynamo head coach Markus Anfang offered four new players in the starting XI. Stefan Drljaca replaced Sven Müller in goal. Paul Will and Christian Conteh also came on for the injured Michael Akoto and Robin Becker. Kyrylo Melichenko replaced the short-term absentee Kyu-Hyun Park.

As atmospheric as it started in the stands, the game started just as intensely. Dynamo’s offensive player Dennis Borkowski had the first chance in the fifth minute – but Halle’s defense blocked his shot. On the other side, HFC attacker Timur Gayret got a shot in the seventh minute – Dynamo keeper Stefan Drljaca saved safely.

After a subsequent phase of scanning, Dynamo was allowed to celebrate in the 14th minute. Christian Conteh was very quick on the wing and made a precise pass inside – striker Manuel Schäffer was lurking there, but Halle defender Jonas Nietfeld put the ball in front of him into his own goal. The 1:0 for the SGD.

With the lead behind them, Dynamo set the tone – also in the stands. After a series of three corners, Dynamo captain Tim Knipping headed just wide of the far post in the 24th minute. Only five pointer turns later, Borkowski had the next opportunity for black and yellow, but Halle goalkeeper Felix Gebhardt saved the ball for a corner.

After that, the SGD withdrew a bit, the urge phase had cost strength. Halle combined – without getting any chances worth mentioning. Only in minute 37 did it get dicey – together Claudio Kammerknecht and Jonathan Meier saved from Halle’s Leon Damer, who was ready to shoot.

Referee Benjamin Cortus whistled for the break with two minutes of stoppage time. Dynamo led 1-0 – and deserved it. The second half went without a change.

This started cautiously. Both defensive lines were good, the game mostly took place in midfield. Dresden’s Paul Will saw a yellow card in the 54th minute.

In the 60th minute, Dynamo was quite lucky as a sharply kicked corner rushed past all Halle players, Dynamo didn’t appear well organized in this situation. The reaction of the team was determined: SGD switched well via Ahmet Arslan and Borkowski, the subsequent shot on goal was cleared by Halle goalkeeper Gebhardt to the corner.

In the 62nd and 72nd minute, the Dynamo coach made changes at the start: Stefan Kutschke came on for Schäffler, Arslan made space for Yannick Stark and Borkowski was replaced by Patrick Weihrauch. In the meantime, Kammerknecht saw a yellow card in the 69th minute due to a foul and a free kick from ex-Dynamo Niklas Kreuzer skimmed the bar – that was really tight for the SGD.

Dynamo was now more active again. In the 75th minute – after a combination via Julius Kade and Kutschke – Conteh made it to the end, but his header was too imprecise. It worked all the better in the 80th minute: Conteh got through from the outside and put it down to Weihrauch, who hit the far corner with a lot of overview and swerve – 2:0 for Dynamo. That was good.

In the 81st minute, Beginning made a double change: Kade made room for Kevin Ehlers and Conteh left the pitch for Max Kulke. Drljaca then excelled again, clawing a shot from Halle’s Andor Bolyki out of the corner.

After that it was over – Dynamo cheered about the important success and did so with the more than 1,200 fans from “Dynamoland” who traveled with them, who constantly pushed the SGD forward in Halle.

The SG Dynamo Dresden has completed the first of three parts of the “English week”.
