Dyche favorite to coach Everton (reports)

London (AFP) – Sean Dyche will coach Everton, which is floundering in the Premier League standings, instead of the sacked Frank Lampard, according to several press reports Friday.

Daish became the favorite, after Argentine Marcelo Bielsa refused to take over at Goodison Park. Bielsa traveled to London for talks with club officials, but reports indicated that he was not convinced of the ability of the squad left by Lampard to apply his fast style.

On the other hand, Daish was sacked from Burnley’s training last April, before the club’s relegation, and his appointment may be officially announced within 24 hours.

It is believed that Tofiz owner Farhad Moshiri wants to appoint a replacement coach at the end of this week, while his team will play its next match on February 4 against league leaders Arsenal at Goodison Park.

In the event that Daish is appointed, he will coach a club mired in crises and fans’ criticism of Moshiri, who bought the club in 2016.

Everton ranks bottom of the Premier League standings, and is fighting not to be relegated to the lower division for the first time since 1954.

Lampard was sacked on Monday after less than a year in office, following the loss to the injured West Ham.

During ten years with Burnley, Dyche achieved good results and twice promoted him to the elite league, where he stayed for several years. The fifty-one-year-old led Burnley to their first continental qualification in 51 years, after finishing seventh in the 2017-2018 season.
