After weeks of uncertainty, Dwight Howard finally decided to go to Orlando to end the season. The mother of one of his children died recently, and with the current social climate, he was very undecided.
“I have a contractual obligation to my teammates, my fans, the Lakers, the organization, and everyone, but at the same time I have an obligation to my family and my community. We are going to do a lot of work here in Atlanta and across the country to make sure that people do not forget about us and what is happening in our communities. ” Howard
The pivot decided to donate his salary to his program: Breathe Again. This represents approximately $ 700,000. He launched Breathe Again via his D12 foundation in 2015 and will relaunch the program.
“While I’m in the bubble, I’ll use my time to talk about Breathe Again, and I’ll use my salary, all the money, all the checks I get from participating in Orlando, to help push the Breathe Again initiative, to push our movement and make sure people don’t forget what’s going on in our society. ” Howard
