Dutch sperm donor faces charges for fathering 550 offspring.

However, Meyer may have continued to donate to international sperm banks under a pseudonym even after being blacklisted as a sperm donor.

Lawyer Marc de Heck, who represents Donorkind, said that Meyer violated the 25-donor child limit by wanting to have children and acted illegally and caused harm to the families who used his sperm to conceive a child. “This behavior is dangerous to the mental well-being and health of the donor’s children,” the lawyer said in a statement.

It is alleged that the prolific musician deliberately misled people by not revealing the truth about his donor history and the number of times he has donated. Eva from the Netherlands, who gave birth to a child using Meyer’s donated sperm in 2018, said in her statement that the trial was the last resort to stop Meyer and prevent him from harming more people.

“If I had known that he already had more than 100 children, I would never have chosen him,” Eva said. “Thinking about the effect this could have on my child makes me sick. Going to court is the only option I have.”

Although the case is the first of its kind in the Netherlands, similar scandals surrounding over-prolific sperm donors have made headlines in the Netherlands before, inspiring plans to create a single national sperm donor registry.

The foundation Donorkind announced last year that it had identified at least 10 doctors who had illegally used their own sperm to impregnate women in the Netherlands. By carrying out DNA tests, it has been established that at least 90 children were born in the fertility clinic of the Dutch doctor Jan Karbāt in Rotterdam, for the creation of which the doctor used his own sperm.

The lawsuit against Meyer will be heard in the coming weeks.
