Dutch pilots in drug case Argentina may leave country NOW

The three Dutch pilots who were arrested in Argentina in January on suspicion of drug smuggling may leave the country, confirms KLM Saturday after reporting by De Telegraaf. For privacy reasons, it is not disclosed when they fly to the Netherlands.

The three pilots were arrested at Ezeiza airport in Buenos Aires, after 86 kilos of cocaine were found in a cargo aircraft. The plane was about to leave for Amsterdam via Ecuador. In total, seven people were arrested, including three Dutchmen.

Monday it was announced that the pilots were released. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) in Argentina saw no reason for prosecution.

The drugs were found in a Martinair aircraft, which is part of Air France-KLM. On Thursday, KLM already announced that the aircraft could go to the Netherlands. The pilots first had to complete a standard procedure.

The Dutch police assist the Argentinian justice with the investigation. Among other things, they investigate how the drugs passed the controls at the airport.
