Düsseldorf: Discussion about more home office

She was inspired by Minister of Labor Heil, who wants to encourage more companies to let their employees work from home if possible.

Many employees would also welcome that, said Sigrid Wolf from the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) in Düsseldorf. But only under certain rules.

Alexander Jarre from the entrepreneurship in Düsseldorf criticizes the draft law for home office. That would have nothing to do with the planned legal right to home office and is therefore unnecessary.

Rather, it should be recognized that many companies have already adjusted to mobile working because of the pandemic. The Federal Association of Medium-Sized Enterprises in North Rhine-Westphalia also warns of a “pointless home office debate”. It is not the job of politics to define labor standards. That must remain the task of the collective bargaining parties.
